The Saturday that changed everything
In 2009, our founder, an Accountant with an Information Technology background, urgently needed car parts. He walked into a busy parts store on a Saturday morning, waited nearly an hour, and left empty-handed.
That frustration sparked a simple idea: buying the right car parts shouldn’t cost you time, safety, or peace of mind. The solution was obvious. Building it was anything but.
OnlineCarParts.co.za launched on 1 November 2011
This wasn’t a polished launch. It was a survival launch. One garage. Two committed employees. 16-hour days. A belief that if we did things properly, customers would eventually trust us.
The garage years
eCommerce in South Africa was still finding its feet. Internet access was limited. Online shopping felt risky. Orders were slow. Doubt was constant. Quitting would have been the easy option.
Instead, we kept showing up. Learning logistics the hard way. Fixing mistakes. Improving systems. Building trust order by order. Those years shaped how we operate today.
Growth, earned not rushed
After three years, we moved into larger premises at Northview Shopping Centre in Randburg and opened off-site warehouses. Growth didn’t arrive overnight. It came through consistency, reliability, and accountability.
In January 2023, Online Car Parts took over a 2300 square meter facility in Randburg CBD, a former Isuzu and Opel dealership. By then, the mission was clear: scale without losing integrity.
