How to Check Coolant Level Safely

Never open a hot radiator cap — wait until the engine cools completely. Check that the coolant level is between the MIN and MAX marks on the reservoir. If the fluid looks rusty, oily, or low, top up with the correct coolant type and have the system pressure-tested to prevent hidden leaks.
