Description

This is a points and condenser type distributor. This type of distributor is mostly found in older vehicles and subject to a higher amount of failure rate. The points and condenser system work with an electrical charge that is sent to an ignition coil, which was connected to the distributor cap. The condenser is attached to the system by breaker points. The condenser and distributor rotate so that the points open and close continuously. The current from the ignition flows through the contacts and sends the voltage to the spark plugs, which ignite the fuel. The condensers last around 15000 KM’s to 25000 KM’s, so they do need to be replaced from time to time as a normal service item.

Defective Symptoms

Your vehicle may not start. Points and Condensers are subject to a high failure rate and in most instances, this may be the cause when your vehicle fails to start. You may also experience your engine runs rough after starting your vehicle, misfires and can be lean or rich in fuel.

Repair Technicians must have a qualification and training for the fitment of this specific product and use the correct equipment as specified by the Vehicle Manufacturer. This includes, but not limited to; torque settings, gaskets, specified lubricants, quality consumables, computer aided settings, calibration settings, specified equipment and tools etc.…

This product has a 12 Month Warranty or 30 000KM’s; whichever occurs first. If there is a specific label on the product regarding warranty duration; that label will supersede this warranty.

Returns are permitted within guarantee period. Buyer must obtain reference number before returning goods. Returns are subjected to inspection and testing by the relevant supplier or manufacturer before a claim is finalized. All documents related to the fitment must be supplied e.g. Job Card, Odometer Reading, Fitment Centre Accreditation.

Some manufacturers do not accept returns on automotive electrical products. These products have been rigorously tested and passed quality assurances prior to leaving the factory. Electrical Products are extremely sensitive. Some vehicles may have existing Electronic or Electrical Degradation within the Electrical Framework of the vehicle which may cause irreparable damage to the new part; upon fitment. Detailed Diagnostics must be supplied acknowledging that a specific part is faulty prior to purchase of the new part and not just generic fault codes indicating a cluster of parts may be faulty. Fault codes from palm held diagnostic machines are not accepted. Please make sure you understand this prior to purchase.
